This page highlights some of the electroacoustic music of Janine Elliot. She predominantly worked on taking tiny slices of real sounds and expanding them to form the music. In many works the slices were less than a second. In "And He Huffed and He Puffed" the phrase of a little child and the lighting of a match was expanded to create the sounds of the wolf, and repeated only 7 times in the whole 9-minute piece. The spoken phrase has many different pitches from which to create the mood of the work. "Sweeping Statements" won Janine an award at the internationalBourges electroacoustic competition.Much of her work was achieved at The Fraser University in Canada and University of Birmingham, UK.
