Janine Elliot began playing the piano from the very early age of 4 at nursery school; coming home having heard a pianist playing to all the children at the school and then playing the pieces by ear immediately on her own piano.
It became obvious that she should start having piano lessons which she did at Watford School of Music, winning a major scholarship at the age of 10 allowing free piano, viola, and singing lessons, plus learning oboe at St Albans School of Music. She went on to do a B.Mus and later M.Mus in electroacoustic music at Birmingham University, plus a career at BBC Radio, working for Radio 3 plus Radio 4, 2, 6Music and 5Live. Her music has been performed on radio and tv, and has written BBC Radio signature tunes.
She left her career after 25 years to start teaching music firstly within schools and then at a Music School. She has written for a number of international Hi-Fi magazines over the past 25 years, plus advising a number of British manufacturers on design and R&D for mains conditioners, turntables, speakers and amplifiers.
She has won numerous competitions, being SPNM composer of the Year 1994 and winning music compositions around the world, including Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Festival.
